چکیده

P regnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A) is a zinc-binding matrix metalloproteinase that regulates extracellular matrix remodeling. PAPP-A degrades IGFBP-4, increasing levels of local IGF-1 in response to injury, and could be involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis (1– 6). Inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor (TNF)and interleukin (IL)-1 , implicated in insulin resistance (7), are potent stimulators of PAPP-A (8,9). The association between PAPP-A levels and metabolic parameters such as cholesterol and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) is controversial (2,10,11). We aimed to study the relationship between PAPP-A, glycemic control and other metabolic and hemostatic parameters, inflammatory cytokines, and ankle-brachial pressure index (ABI) in diabetic patients.

Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a common metabolic disorder witht increasing prevalence is increasing worldwide. C-Reactive Protein (CRP) is a marker of systemic inflammation and an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD). The aim of this study was to elucidate the correlation between glycemic control and systemic inflammation by measuring serum CRP levels. Methods: In t...

The Effect of Eight Weeks Aerobic Training on Serum Ferritin Level, Glycemic and Lipid Indices in Women with Type 2 Diabetes

Background and Aim: Recent studies indicate that increased body iron stores have been associated with the development of glucose intolerance and type 2 Diabetes. Ferritin is the most important iron storage protein in the body, which is used to evaluate disorders associated with iron metabolism. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of eight weeks of aerobic training on serum ferritin ...

Effect of Probiotics on Lipid Profile, Glycemic Control, Insulin Action, Oxidative Stress, and Inflammatory Markers in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes: A Clinical Trial

Background: The dramatic increase in the incidence of diabetes and its associated complications require a natural and safe solution to control and delay such complications. The present study tested the hypothesis that probiotics may affect biochemical indices of diabetic patients Methods: Thirty four types 2 diabetic patients aged between 25 to 65 years, and diagnosed with diabetes for...

Designing a glycemic control strategy to maintain glucose homeostasis and prevent hypoglycemia for subjects with type 1 diabetes

This paper presents using the fractional PImDn controller module which manipulates insulin infusion rate to maintain normoglycemia in subjects with type 1 diabetes. To prevent severe hypoglycemia, a conventional proportional controller is used to regulate glucagon infusion rate when the blood glucose levels fall below a threshold. Two sets of controller parameters are obtained and evaluated. Fo...
